December 2025: Lights, Horses, and New Beginnings
We finished the year strong! We swapped our hiking boots for stirrups at Maverick Horseback Ranch and took in the holiday lights at Pflugerville and the 37th Street show. Between the "Snow Fights" at Lakeline and the various birthday bashes for Jen and Leah, the calendar was glowing. We rang in the New Year at my place with enough fireworks and mayhem to last us until next December, followed by the mandatory Polar Bear Plunge to wash it all away. December Retrospective: 12/5:

November 2025: Canyons & Community Thanks
November took us out to the grand scale of Palo Duro Canyon. That trip was a beast, but worth every mile. Back home, we kept the spirit alive with the Austin Pow-wow and a special tour of the Snowden House. We wrapped up the month the way we always do—with the "Lonely Orphans" Thanksgiving at my place. Whether you have family in town or not, seeing so many of you around my table is what this group is all actually about. November Retrospective: 11/1: Post-Halloween Recovery H

October 2025: Spooky Season & Enchanted Peaks
October is always my favorite, and this year didn't disappoint. We took on Old Baldy in Wimberley and spent a legendary weekend in Fredericksburg for the Enchanted Rock hike (and plenty of sausage and beer for the UT game). Of course, we had to get our "freak on" at the House of Torment and the Urban Hike through the Driskill. We ended the month at my place for the annual Halloween party—thanks to everyone who brought that high-voltage energy! October Retrospective: 10/4: Ol

September 2025: Camping & Cliffside Concerts
September was all about the "Experience" with a capital E. We finally got some camping in at Colorado Bend and Pace Bend, sitting around the fire and actually disconnecting for a minute. But the real showstopper? That Sunday hike at Barton Springs followed by the "Strings in the Woods" secret concert on a cliff. There’s nothing quite like hearing live music in the wild to make you realize how lucky we are to have this community. September Retrospective: 9/1: Labor Day Party

August 2025: The Dog Days & Cave Crawls
August was a test of endurance, but man, did we pass. We tackled Dante’s Trail in San Marcos—over 7 miles of sweat—only to reward ourselves with a tube float and downtown drinks. We also got a little "wild" with the Rave Hike at Walnut Creek and explored the depths of Longhorn Cavern. Looking back at the photos, the sunset at the Walnut Creek Rave Hike stands out as one of the coolest visual highlights of the whole year. August Retrospective: 8/2: Johnson Creek Hike & Deep E

July 2025: Fireworks, Floats, and Famous Springs
Looking back, July was a total "greatest hits" reel of Texas summer. We kicked it off with Willie Nelson’s Picnic—because you can't do the 4th of July in Austin any other way—and spent the rest of the month chasing water. From the prehistoric vibes at Reimers Ranch to the refreshing magic of Krause Springs, we stayed cool while the pavement sizzled. Finishing the month with the Brazos Bend and Galveston trip was the perfect way to cap off the mid-summer heat. July Retrospecti

June 2025: Chasing the Water
As the Texas heat started to crank up, we knew exactly what to do: get in the water. June was dominated by the river and the springs. From tubing in New Braunfels to that magical full moon swim at Barton Springs after Blues on the Green, we made sure the summer heat didn't stop the party. Finishing the month with a Caddo Lake trip and a local Brushy Creek hike kept the momentum going right into the heart of summer. June Memories: 6/5: 1st Thursday on South Congress. 6/7: Ne

May: May the 4th and Muddy Miles
May was arguably our most diverse month yet. We started with "Star Wars" gear at the Pecan Street Festival (May the 4th be with you!) and ended it with a multi-day epic trip to Arkansas. In between, we found time for Shiner brewery tours, paintball, and getting absolutely filthy on the Muddy Run. It was a month of high adventure and even higher spirits. May Memories: 5/3: Saint Edwards Park & Hot Rod Show. 5/4: Star Wars Hike & Pecan Street Festival. 5/10: Palmetto State P

April 2025: Art, Flowers, and Road Trips
April kept us moving with a mix of nature and culture. We hit the "After Dark" party at Umlauf and soaked in the art at Laguna Gloria after a trek from Mayfield Gardens to Mt. Bonnell. The road trip to San Antonio for the Flood Canyon hike and a night on the Riverwalk was a massive success. It was one of those months where the balance of trail time and city fun was just perfect. April Memories: 4/1: Umlauf After Dark Party. 4/5: Buescher State Park / Two Step Inn Festival w

March 2025: Wildflowers and Texas Pride
March is when the colors really started to pop. We celebrated Texas Independence Day the right way (at Dysfunction Junction) and hit the trails for some prime wildflower viewing. The Lady Bird Lake hike with the Lemaire Lee interview was a unique highlight, and who could forget the BBQ Cookoff after Pedernales? Between the hiking and the comedy open mics, March reminded us why we love living in this part of the world. March Memories: 3/1: Violet Crown Hike & Concert at Campb

February 2025: Cleanups, Cards, and a 20-Mile March
February: Cleanups, Cards, and a 20-Mile March February was a blur of high energy. We gave back to the land with the Pennybacker Bridge cleanup (thanks to everyone who hauled trash!) and then immediately pivoted to the social scene with Super Bowl Sunday and some "Grab Your Balls" bowling for Valentine's Day. The real legend of the month, though, was the Mammoth March—20 miles is no joke, and the crew that crushed that Dino Park trek deserves another round of applause. Februa

January 2025 : Kicking Off the Year Right
Looking back, January was all about setting the tone. We didn't let the post-holiday slump get to us. Between the Highlands loop and that wild Texas Stars hockey game, we stayed busy. The Scott Leeper hike was a standout—nearly 7 miles of fresh air followed by some serious pizza at The Heights. It was the perfect way to launch what turned into an incredible year of adventure. January Memories: 1/18: Lakeway Highlands Trails Loop (5 or 10 miles) & Canyon Griller social. 1/19:
